How can we help?

The UK is home to a vast hospitality industry, with over 3.5 million workers across 143,000 businesses. It is, by size, the third-largest source of employment in the country.

And yet, it’s never been a more challenging time to run a hospitality business. Tight margins have been further eroded by increases to minimum wage and employer’s national insurance, along with rising energy bills and business rates. Plus, you’re constantly balancing customer satisfaction, staffing, and operational demands.

Unsurprisingly, this can lead to stressful, long days for owners and managers.

After you’ve made it through your daily to-do list, the last thing you want is to worry about your accounts. You simply don’t have the time to figure out what needs filing, and when, and how much you owe in tax, and what you can claim in relief, and so on.

FAQs

Do I need an accountant?

You don’t need an accountant as there’s no legal requirement to use one. However, most hospitality businesses are extremely busy, and the owners have little time to spare for tasks like financial administration and management. Even if you can fit it in, you may not want to risk getting something wrong or missing a deadline. If this sounds like you, then you’ll find plenty of value in hiring an accountant you can rely on (like us!).

Can you help me plan for future expansion or opening new locations?

Yes, if your hospitality business is growing and you’re considering opening new locations then we can help you understand the financial and tax implications, weigh up cash flow, advise on general business strategy, and even choose new premises.

We have a mix of full-time, part-time, and temporary staff members, can you handle the payroll?

A mix of full-time, part-time and temporary workers is common across all hospitality businesses. It doesn’t present any issues for our fully-managed payroll services.

How can I reduce VAT?

VAT is another source of concern for the hospitality sector following the end of the reduced rate of VAT in March 2022. As of today, hospitality businesses charge and pay VAT at the standard rate (20%), although you may be able to use the Flat Rate Scheme to pay a lower rate. We can advise on this, along with other VAT schemes and tax reliefs – get in touch to find out more.
